The world's most famous wizard is back. On June 4th, Warner Bros. released the much-anticipated movie, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban to captivated audiences everywhere.
Harry Potter is one of the world's most recognized brands; the books, by J.K. Rowling, fly off the shelves world wide, and fans flock to the theatres in record-breaking numbers each time a new Harry Potter movie comes out. The demand for Harry Potter merchandise is equally high as kids and adults alike want their own Gryffindor scarf or a Hogwart's t-shirt.
Warner Bros. teamed up with Novator, its online retail partner, to build the official Web store for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Knowing there would be a huge industry and fan buzz around the release of the movie, they needed a solution that would be able to handle heavy bursts and large transaction numbers. The Harry Potter Shop has become a popular destination for fans of Harry Potter and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Novator's Microsite solution, a component of the VR Platform, ensures that Warner Bros. will be able to grow as the characters grow, and re-brand as the sequels are released. With each successive movie comes a distinct look and a distinct story that needs to be reflected in the online store. The Microsite component allows Warner Bros. to design and build a brand new site quickly as it uses the existing product catalog and technology that is already in place for the Novator-powered WBShop.com.
