SITUATION
Interflora U.K. is the United Kingdom’s leading floral network delivering over a million flower arrangements, as well as wine, chocolates and other gifts. Prior to its engagement with Novator, Interflora’s e-commerce business, while successful, was experiencing significant periods of downtime – often crashing during peak selling periods, such as Valentine’s Day and Mothering Day – resulting in significant revenue loss. Additionally, the user experience and checkout flow was in need of optimization to better drive conversion rates and average order value.
SOLUTION
Novator began by undertaking a complete analysis of Interflora’s business and user experience requirements, spanning usability and design, hosting and monitoring, website features, integration, etc. From this assessment, Novator undertook the following:
Created a new design of the Interflora website to maximize usability, merchandising and marketing impact
Engineered the site on our leading Virtual Retailer™ platform
Hosted the site at a primary facility in London, with a redundant facility in Toronto (hot sync’ed to the primary)
Monitored ongoing performance of the site on a 24x7 basis
Continued to analyze and improve business and site performance, usability and features

With Novator’s help, the redesign of www.interflora.uk led to a 35% increase in conversion rates, while the site has experienced better than 99.9% availability, effortlessly handling spikes in visitor and order loads during peak periods. Today, Interflora operates over 800 e-commerce sites on our Virtual Retailer platform – providing individual, customizable websites to its community of florists – and remains the U.K.’s leading floral and gift provider.
