Job Description
The Senior System Administrator will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, and ongoing management of a large Debian Linux installation. The Administrator will ensure compliance to all corporate policies departmental standards and procedures. They will also be responsible to ensure a high level of performance, functionality and availability is maintained.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to
developers, customers and other system support personnel as required
- Assist in problem
determination and resolution
- Perform required
configuration, maintenance & tuning of all system related components
including system software
- Evaluate, and recommend
performance enhancements
- Recommend automation of
processes and procedures where possible
- Participate in on-call pager
rotation
- Develop, document and
maintain standards and best practices
Requirements
- University degree in
computer science or equivalent with substantial directly related work
experience
- 5+ years Linux System
Administrator experience supporting a large 24/7 production environment
- Experience with Cisco IOS
and hardware
- Knowledge of Apache, MySQL,
and Tomcat
- Knowledge of BigIP (or
similar load balancing appliance technology), Sybase, Exim and Squid beneficial
- Strong shell and Perl
scripting, some knowledge of Java
- Ability to work effectively
on multiple simultaneous tasks within fast paced, high tech, team oriented
environment
- Strong organizational,
interpersonal, motivational & analytical skills
- Effective written &
verbal communication skills
- Ability to complete project
tasks in a timely manner
- Knowledge of security practices
and issues
