Job Description
The Intermediate System Administrator will participate in the deployment, configuration, and ongoing management of a large Debian Linux installation. The Administrator will work to comply with all corporate policies, departmental standards, and procedures.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Day to day management of the office desktop network including new user setups, workstation and server builds, network cabling and switch setup, inventory, system updates, security policy enforcement, system and software purchasing.
- Day to day support of developers and other employees with desktop and other computer issues.
- Tasks in the web hosting environment as assigned by senior staff.
- Front line problem identification for any system issue and ability to gather information and resources to solve the problem.
- Documentation of plans, procedures, problems and their resolutions.
Requirements
- 3+ years work experience as a Linux Systems Administrator
- Experience with as many of these as possible: Debian Linux, Samba, LDAP, Mysql, Apache, Perl, Exim, DNS, Tomcat, Cisco LAN technologies, Backup software.
- 3+ years work experience supporting a office Windows environment: Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server, Group Policy, LAN networking, Cisco IOS.
- Experience working with a trouble ticket system.
- Ability to travel to the US and other countries.
- Participation in a support on-call rotation with the other team members.
- Occasional after hours support for system migrations and maintenances.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
